Battlestar Galactica

Photobucket

I have been spending most of my free time watching Battlestar Galactica or reading a Fifty Shades book. I DON’T HAVE A LIFE. No but like really, I hate leaving the house that’s how lazy I am. 24 more days til college so I might as well relish the time I have to myself.
I know I said Im over galaxy print but these leggings have cacti on them and are in the spirit of my new obsession with Battlestar. I feel a resurgence of leggings on the rise. Im not a huge fan of Black Milk but Lovely Sally leggings are amazing. Since Black Milk leggings are made of polyester and spandex, unless you have super skinny legs, youre going to look stumpy. The material just does nothing for my body.

Bleecker St.

While in New York, I was on a mission to find cool places to shop. Bleecker Street was kind of a bust and so was SoHo, on my first trip. I realized that the kind of stuff I was looking for was mostly quintessential Melrose Ave style. But I did go back for a second time and found a few cute little boutiques on Broadway. I had been exploring Mott Street and Mulberry Street when I should have been looking around Spring Street. I had gotten as far as Canal Street and then hopped on the subway because that area is absolutely frightening. Canal Street is where stolen and faux designer bags go to get sold on the black market. There’s also a lot of Chinese influence here, so if you’re looking for jade I suppose this is where you’d end up. Anyways, stuff in SoHo was way more expensive than it should be, but there are a lot of local designers that really take care of their costumers, so I feel like the stuff I bought was worth it. I wanted a belt and it didn’t fit so the boutique owner brought out a leather hole puncher and took care of that problem. You just don’t get service like that at Urban Outfitters or Bloomingdale’s. I’ll post about the stuff I bought later.

One week old shellac (it peeled off later that same day). Love the finish but it only lasted me a week.
Oh and amazing ring I picked up at this shop on Bleecker that was going out of business.

I look unkempt and flustered due to my crazy morning on the last day there. I went to Norma’s at Le Meridien and I was served a smoothie that I was told the incorrect ingredients to and it ended up having something I was allergic to in it. I had my epinephrine shot so everything ended up fine.

Rosewood

Went to dinner in Lodi today, the “Zinfandel Capital of the World”. Though that has absolutely no significance to my existence because I’m not of drinking age. I wore this dress I bought in New York, from Century 21. When my sister told me about this place I thought it was a joke because the only Century 21 I knew of deals with real estate. But basically, Century 21 is like a higher class TJ Max. There’s All Saints, Alice + Olivia, DVF, and…Alexander McQueen! There wasn’t much of McQueen on the day that I went but I managed to find this dress. Originally $425, it was at Century 21 for $180 and they were having a 50% off sale. The dress isn’t magnificently intricate but it fits well and I feel like it’s going to be a good basic to have around. I can definitely dress it up and wear some bold accessories with it.

Oh and yes, my hair is a bit shorter. I went to the Butterfly Studio in NYC and I’m actually quite disappointed. They charged me $150 (not including the tip) for a trim and most of my time was spent with an assistant. I had avoided going to a super high end salon so that I could have a good stylist solely work on me but that wasn’t the case. The stylist only spent about 10 minutes with me and didn’t really listen to what I wanted.

I’m 18!

If you follow me on Twitter you probably know that I’m back in California, two weeks early. FIT was not what I expected at all. It was like a day camp. I felt my IQ dropping in those classrooms, it was ridiculous. And in the whole three weeks, I wouldve only made one skirt…I can make a skirt in about two hours. And my other class consisted of collaging and the highlight of it was “visiting the Prada store”. Uh..I can visit the Prada store whenever I want. All of this occurred on my birthday (July 9th) which was kind of a downer but I had a great time at Fig & Olive in the Meatpacking District and then saw Magic Mike. I did get a 75% refund from FIT and I wouldnt recommend anyone enroll in their precollege courses. I wouldve taken a college class but for some reason they wouldnt let me so I had gotten stuck with these remedial courses.

I wanted an authentic birthday cake with sprinkles and everything. Honestly, Carlo’s Bakery’s cake wasnt all that great. The place was cool to visit though.

Fig & Olive is definitely my favorite restaurant! If you ever get to go to any of the locations, you have to get the pot de creme, it’s the best dessert ever.

Im honestly so glad to be home. I got back Saturday and havent left my house since. The subway sucks and it was so humid and tiring. The New York City life style is so high stress and everyone I encountered was so rude. California gurl foreva<3

But the city was definitely fun to experience after so many years. Ive been a few times but I was young and with my parents. This time it was just my sister and I and it was fun being able to spend my birthday there.

New York City

I landed in NYC on Thursday and it’s been a hectic few days. The weather is absolutely awful in July. Humid, hot, disgusting, and then it randomly rains on you. Due to this, blog pictures weren’t at the top of my priority list. But today the weather was a tad calmer. We went to some small shops in Hoboken and got off at this cool train station, so I decided to have my sister take some photos of my outfit. I’ve noticed that a lot of girls in NYC/NJ revolve their outfits around labels. Mostly everyone has a designer bag and a chiffon top on. Chiffon tops, tailored shorts, and strappy sandals are like the uniform of this region. Where’s the creativity in that?
Photobucket
I’m sporting the California look with the tied up top and cut off, tie dyed skirt. Skirts and shorts are the only option in this weather.

Crop top from last summer with my DIY studded shorts. I added a little Native American flair with the dreamcatcher earrings. I’m so glad to be living in a country where I can post on a blog and say whatever the hell I want.
