Enchantress

Don’t mind the bizarre title, it’s the first word I thought of while looking at this top and skirt combination. Tying up t-shirts and wearing them with high waisted skirts is literally my summer uniform. It’s effortless yet still chic. These photos weren’t taken at my usual location because I had just gotten back from San Francisco and I wasn’t in the mood to get all elaborate. I didn’t even take the time to powder my nose *le sigh* summer has made me such a laggard.

I actually bought this skirt today. It’s funny because I usually never try things on at Urban Outfitters because I know my size but when I got home, I realized I have gone a size down thanks to Insanity. Also thanks to Insanity, I herniated a disc in my back so needless to say, I returned that nonsense. ANYWAYS, back to fashion. The tangerine color attracted me because it’s the color of 2012 of course, but also one of the colors of Pepperdine University, the college I will be attending this fall (only this fall, then USC for the rest, just to clear things up). I got a laptop bag in this same color.

I broke my promise with myself about Wildfox. I had decided I wouldn’t invest in such poorly made clothing but I have been wanting this top for ages. I like the swimsuit version as well, but it doesn’t seem too flattering. I noticed every store I checked was selling out of this top so when I found it at the Black Label Boutique online, I couldn’t help myself. Apparently the neons and pastels of spring are out and now it’s time to go for monochromatic white looks (according to Who What Wear). This isn’t anything new in my opinion, it’s the quintessential resort wear look. Wearing all white is something I will try out but I feel like stars such as Kim Kardashian or Olivia Palermo can’t be looked at for inspiration, because their take on the trend is far too aging for someone of my age.

I jumped on the Michael Kors gold watch bandwagon today. I love the way gold looks on my skin tone and I don’t really have a great watch, so this ended up being my graduation present from my mommy. I really love the white version but the rubber attracts dirt and the ceramic is way too heavy. #firstworldprobz

P.S. Sky blue nail polish is totally underrated. *valley girl voice* it’s hecka cute! #sarcasmintended

I had been lookin’ at this skirt for months now and decided the black version was way too Taylor Momsen, aka dominatrix-y. When this pink version came out, I had to buy it especially with the 20% off everything sale at DollsKill.com. This is the second 20% off everything sale I’ve witnessed from them, so if you’re wanting something UNIF, I’d wait til one of these sales. I’ve been attracted to pastels so I had to toughen up this outfit with this leather-esque shell top. I like how this skirt is so tough and has hardware but it’s in such a demure color.  Photobucket

P.S. My legs look slightly orange on camera because my genius butt decided to spray tan my legs (Sephora brand self tanner)…My arms are white and my face is somewhere in between. Oodles of awkwardness.

Last Day of High School

Today was my last day of high school eeeep. I thought I’d be super happy about it but I’m not. I’m not a kid anymore and it sucks! I was thinking back to what I wore on the first day of high school in 2008 and comparing it to what I wore today…what a transformation. I was into Hot Topic, colored denim, and other not refined or classy stuff. I unknowingly wore USC colors today and I didn’t even notice until someone pointed it out to me.
Photobucket
I’m drifting away from high low hemlines but the draping on this skirt was just too fab not to post. I bought this in Santa Barbara and the LF store sale. It was originally a ghastly $148 and I ended up getting it for about $28.

This top is literally my favorite. I saw the one at American Apparel and was about to buy it but I noticed asos had a similar top on sale–so I just went with asos’s. I’m definitely going to buy more and in different colors from American Apparel. This top goes with all of my high waisted skirts and doesn’t turn into crap when I wash it once. Which is more than I can say for my Wildfox “I hate mornings” shirt…
Photobucket
And I know people are probably wondering why I dress up so much just for school. Everyday is an excuse to play dress up, that’s my motto. Don’t let that fab skirt just sit in your closet for months until it sees the light of day for some special occasion. I wear whatever I want. As long as it makes me happy, I’m satisfied. I didn’t wear a prom appropriate dress to prom and I’m not wearing a graduation appropriate dress tomorrow either (when you see it, you’ll be like, “Why didn’t she wear the prom dress to graduation and vice versa?” Because I’m too cool for that duhhh!!!) #YOLO <- probably going to regret that obscene hash tag in like five seconds.

Oops I Did it Again

Title has to do with the fact that I went for an edgy, 90s inspired Britney Spears look (maybe slightly Lolita, even). High waisted, short skirts and crop tops are going to be my summer uniform. You may recognize the print on this top from a couple of posts ago, that is because I bought a matching top and skirt but I havent really worn them together yet. Speaking of matching stuff, I really like the idea of a pink suit. I’ve seen it on Naomi on and episode of 90210 last week and then Blair on this week’s episode of Gossip Girl. Photobucket
I threw a denim button down on top to make this a tad more school appropriate. I’m definitely going to be buying this skirt in denim for the summertime; corduroy is a bit too wintery. Photobucket
You may notice that I’m a bunch of different shades of tan right now (my face is still pale as hell though) due to my experimentation with bronzing lotion. I’m naturally tan but I can get sort of pale so I’m trying to find the best product that makes girls with my skin tone look more golden. Photobucket
This necklace is a great touch to a lot of my outfits, I’ve been wearing it a lot lately. On another note, commenting has been enabled again! I disabled it because I didn’t care to know what people hiding behind anonymity had to say, but I really do miss the positive comments.Photobucket

Prom

Originally, I was going to wear a sparkly Sherri Hill ball gown altered to tea length but apparently Sherri Hill gowns take two months to make and it wouldn’t have been ready in time. I know I wanted to do something different though. The long dress with the chandelier earrings and heels isn’t really my thing. So I stayed true to myself and bought an All Saints dress. I literally searched hours and hours to find something interesting. I fell in love with the printed chiffon, subtle sequins, and frayed hem line on this dress. I paired it with some awesome earrings from Rent the Runway. I wish they had the option to buy their products because no other store had these.

I literally studded these brogues myself. I got 100 studs from studsandspikes.com, made a grid with graph paper, used a sharpie to make dots, used a piercing tool, and screwed them on. It took hours and made my fingers swell. So if you’re thinking about doing a DIY like me, I don’t think it’s worth it unless you have a specific shoe/stud color combination you absolutely need to have. Some type of strong glue would’ve been easier to deal with but the studs would’ve probably have fallen off by the end of the night. If these were available to buy, I would’ve done so.
I went for a super girly Blair Waldorf-esque vibe with my headband and rossette purse and set it off with my punk-ish shoes. I’m happy with the way it all turned out because I stayed true to myself and definitely looked unique.

I did my hair and make up myself because I’ve always had the worst luck with hair dressers and well, MAC and Clinque make up artists at the mall do a god-awful job. My two main fears were looking like a drag queen and having those crunchy, over hair sprayed ringlets. I tend to think of high school dances as “the attack of the crunchy curls and tulle dresses”.

My date!
Now I’m going to go drug myself with some anti-histamine because I have an upper respiratory infection (aka common cold) and fall into a long slumber.
P.S. 99 days from now, I will be moving into my dorm in Malibu. Oh snap.

FIGHT ON

Photobucket
Excuse the bizarre, irrelevant title but.. I GOT INTO USC. Spring semester 2013. I had my heart set on Pepperdine so now I don’t really know what to do. USC has been my dream school for like ever though. Oh and prom is tomorrow and I’m sick-ish. So needless to say, I’M STRESSED.
Anywho, now for the outfit: I decided to bring a punk element to my floral top because this look was at the risk of becoming way too girly for my liking. Photobucket
Trying to go for a new hair look with this headband, I’m kind of likin’ it. Note to self, try out headbands for a new look rather than dying your hair (remember that ombre thing from a few weeks ago? Eeeek!) Photobucket

Mint Julep

Mint jumpers are the bee’s knees. I just want to hang out in my mint jumper while eating Baskin Robin’s mint chocolate chip ice cream and watching good cinema. That is my idea of a good time.
I was torn between this sweater  and the one pictured but then I decided I liked the quality of the Zara one better. Plus the high low hem thing is getting kind of old. My closet is teeming with asymmetrical hemmed pieces, so I will continue to wear them, but I won’t infest my wardrobe by buying any more of it.
Pull over and jumper style sweaters are my favorite because they’re comfortable and versatile. Here, I paired mine with a dress but the possibilities are pretty much endless. This sweater would look great with cut offs, leggings on a lazy day, a pencil skirt, or a maxi skirt. Every fashionista has to have at least one pastel pull over/jumper in her closet.

How cool am I with my super hipster bowler hat? I didn’t wear the hat out because hats aren’t allowed at my school plus I have realized that hats are totally not my thing. I don’t know why but I find them quite awkward on myself yet I own so many of them…

I Don’t Like Galaxy Print

Photobucket

I loved galaxy print last summer but now I’m over it. I bought this skirt in the mountain print from the Motel.com sale. They sent me this one for some reason and it’s funny because I had just tweeted about how I don’t like galaxy print anymore. But when I threw the skirt on with this top, it seemed to work.
Photobucket
This top was made to wear at my high school that starts at the ungodly hour of 7 am. I got it at dollskill.com when they were having their Friday the 13th sale.
Photobucket
These boots are more like a heel because they have absolutely no platform but they scream spring and I’m in ❤ with them.
PhotobucketMy sister bought this spike bracelet from eBay but it was too tight so she gave it to me (I love it when stuff like that happens). Apparently this style of bracelet is super popular. Kind of like the mini rainbow colored skull bead bracelets but those are hideous in my opinion. Oh and the YSL arty ring is a knock off because I couldn’t even tell the difference between some of the knockoffs and the real thing. I have never bought a knock off anything before because designers make quality items and that’s what you pay for, not the logo.

Tropicana

Photobucket

This skirt came with the ink a little smeared in some spots which was annoying but I love it so much that I had to keep it. Pencil skirts are totally my thing so when you mix that with a tropical print…HELLO RESORT-ESQUE SPRINGTIME SEXY. I find print on clothing sexy, I’m weird like that. Anywho, as you can tell I like pairing casual with not so casual so this whole tied up tee thing is my favorite lately. This tee is from Black Magic at UO. I feel like lots of brands are trying to do the whole high end trendy tee thing like UNIF and Wildfox. UNIF doesn’t come out with a lot of variety and Wildfox is slightly over priced in my opinion so I like how other brands are jumping on this bandwagon.

I got this necklace from Rocks Paper Metal on etsy after eyeing it for about a month. I was under the impression that the stones were colored and it would be high quality for the price that I paid. Turns out the stones are actually painted (which I could have very well done myself) and the cord came out this morning so I had to super glue it back. I talked about this store a couple of posts ago and if you’re thinking about picking yourself up some pieces, don’t say I didn’t warn ya.
Photobucket
On another negative note, these shoes gave me the gnarliest blisters ever today. But fashion hurts, right?
I chose these in black because they’re going to transition easily into the fall and winter. I am obsessed with studded loafers and, well, loafers in general. I searched for these babies online but I could never find my size. Same with the black and gold UNIFs so when I saw these at the Nordstrom in Santa Monica last weekend, I jumped on it. (Tip: if you’re looking to buy these online, stay true to your regular size if you want extra room to wear socks but size down 1/2 if you want them snug because they will eventually loosen up.)

Black Leopard

Photobucket
Just received this UNIF coat in the mail from Nasty Gal and I absolutely hate it. The sleeves were made for someone with abnormally skinny arms. My arms are pretty skinny and literally, my blood circulation was cut off while wearing this which is such a shame because it’s fully lined and would’ve been so comfortable and warm. I would return it for a larger size but sales at Nasty Gal are final. Also, the jacket is asymmetrical and fits weirdly so that’s probably why the model is holding the collar in the photo, I presume.
Photobucket

I like the bright colors in the top and I obviously never let one piece dominate a look, so I paired it with my brightest skirt. This is as far as I go with the whole mixing prints trend. To be different, I put the python skinny belt super low.

I know, I know, I look like I’m sleep deprived or high on something when I’m not wearing black eyeliner. But I’ve gotten way too comfortable with dark make up and I’m trying to change that up for spring. I went a little eyeliner crazy today at Ulta and Sephora. I have a few ideas with what I can do with them so stay tuned for some weird stuff. I may try an Effie Trinket look, who knows. Photobucket
PhotobucketI recently got this top from Romwe and I love the colors, concept and drugged out facial expression on the black leopard but Romwe’s tops suck to be honest. First off, everything is one size. This isn’t a big deal for me for the most part but this top is over sized until it hits the bottom hem. The top tapers in and is super tight at the hem. It’s not just this top, it’s all of the chiffon and silk ones. I have bought two similar styles and both have had the same issue. This makes it hard to wear the top with pants and it loses all of it’s charm tucked in. I assume Romwe knows they have an issue because none of their chiffon or silk boxy tops are modeled. I may cut slits in the sides or something, but beware y’all.
